Yachats Oregon is just south of Newport Oregon and is one of the areas that has yet to be overrun with people on the west coast of the United States. The sandy beaches and rolling waves make for a great escape from the busy world around us. The water this far north is still very chilly, but it is a great environment for the resident gray whales that live and feed here. Often we can see them just past the waves as we sit at the kitchen table drinking coffee.
As some know I have taken up the hobby of droning. For the last three years, I have been hoping to get some footage of the whales from above. This year I was able to do just that. It is truly a different experience to see them moving in the water, as opposed to just seeing their spout or backs. Amazing to have a different perspective of theses creatures. We are truly lucky and grateful to have such a magical place to visit each year.
Mika always wants to play and has named the sand fleas “hoppers” and demands to be carried across the section of the beach where they are prevalent.
Christy has found some time to play her guitar between the strict “play” regime Mika has her on.
All in all, it has been a great time here at Ed and Gloria's Beach House.
